A new life science facility for Southwark
King’s College London and Pioneer Group are working together to sensitively develop 1–9 Newcomen Street and turn this disused building into a highly sustainable, local life science hub, whilst creating jobs and protecting local heritage.
Newcomen Street is located at the heart of SC1, south London’s emerging life science district and a key part of Southwark’s local economy. Situated next to the globally renowned King’s College London and Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospitals, 1–9 Newcomen Street is uniquely placed to provide dedicated, fit-for-purpose labs and collaboration spaces, create jobs for local people, deliver apprenticeship opportunities for young people, and revitalise a historic part of Borough.
An update on our consultation
We would like to thank everyone that has taken part in our recent consultation for 1-9 Newcomen Street, whether you joined us at our public exhibition at Saint Hugh’s Church, Bermondsey on 15 April or provided feedback online.
We are now taking time to consider this feedback and will share future updates as our plans develop.
